GROUP THERAPY and LECTURES Aldie recognizes group therapy as a critical tool in helping individuals become more aware of their feelings, thoughts, and emotions, eventually enabling them to make healthy changes that will aid their recovery process.
Aldie offers a variety of therapy groups and lectures to meet the needs of clients in various stages of recovery. These include: UNDERSTANDING ADDICTION Aimed at the individual who is just recognizing that they may have a problem with alcohol or drugs, this group provides basic education about alcohol and drug abuse and addiction, and demonstrates how dependencies can affect many areas of life. FIRST STEP Based on the first step in Alcoholics Anonymous' program, the group focuses on what it means to be "powerless" over alcohol or drugs1 and on making a commitment to begin a sober life. The group examines the toll addictions take on the human life, and what abstinence and recovery will mean. EARLY RECOVERY This group supports those in the fragile stages of early sobriety by examining new coping mechanisms to deal with emotions long subdued by alcohol or drugs. The sharing of triumphs, benefits, and positive experiences of a healthier life strengthens the resolve to continue in the direction of recovery RELAPSE PREVENTION Because relapse is a danger to anyone in recovery, this group helps clients to recognize relapse signals and how to deal with the issues that can throw them back into a life of addiction. This group provides a forum in which people can examine their feelings, learn how to confront the temptation to use, and regain their commitment to live a sober lifestyle. WOMEN'S RECOVERY GROUP The Women's group offers a safe plce to discuss and find rememdies for problems concerning relationships, children, and finncial stability that seem more intensified for women in recovery, and that can stand in the way of establishing solid sobriety. SENIOR ADULTS IN RECOVERY This group recognizes the different perspectives, experiences, and expectations of seniors, and provides them with a comfortable place to share their search for sobriety with their peers. THE WAY GROUP (What About You?) Designed for those whose lives have been deeply affected by another's abuse of or addiction to alcohol or other drugs, this group addresses the fine line between supporting and enabling the substance-abuser, and turns the focus to oneself and the changes necessary for self-improvement.
